Haiti Relief Efforts
Ms. Brockman's homeroom classes conducted service projects to benefit relief efforts in Haiti. Students were given the opportunity to team up and develop their own fundraising ideas. They worked in groups to have a positive impact on their fellow students, the CMS staff, and their community. Through their efforts, our school raised over $1500 for earthquake victims. We can all learn from this experience. Reaching out to help others, even in small ways, can make a very big difference.
Parent Write Night
Parents and students enjoyed a night of pizza and writing sponsored by the language arts department. Teachers walked the participants through the writing process, and both students and parents composed a narrative. This was a fun activity to prepare for the PASS test next week.
District Three hosted the Spartanburg County Youth Art Month Show at the Chapman Cultural Center. Each school in the district could display work from four students. Congratulations to all our wonderful students artists!
Important Announcement for Parents of Sixth Graders
Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, it will be required that children get an additional shot for Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis. One shot will cover all three and is called T-Dap. Check with your physician or the Health Department for an appointment soon. This shot must be received before your child enters the seventh grade in August of 2010.
